Drawing Foundations: Part I

You've always wanted to learn to draw; so sign up for part I and/or part II of our fall drawing series! For beginner to intermediate levels, this class focuses on drawing techniques and no-frills formulas for improving your drawing skills! Work with a range of media while finding inspiration from still-life, figure, imagination, and master works. Let us break down the complexities of perspective and proportion and leave feeling satisfied with your growth while having fun exploring your creative process.

Explore the exciting qualities of art making with paint! This course offers a comprehensive overview of painting media, techniques, and a window into modern art traditions in painting. Be guided through your creative process while gaining strategies and practice with representational and abstract painting inspired by a variety of subjects including still life, figure, and landscape. Classes will begin with demonstrations and historical context, then guide you through visual challenges, incorporating drawing warm-ups before diving into work with paints.

Sewing Basics & Fall Fashion

For beginner and intermediate sewers, this course will walk you through the basics of machine sewing techniques, fabric selection, and basic pattern reading while creating fashionable fall pieces you’ll be proud to wear including a wrap dress and a fleece jacket! Leave confident to continue sewing at home. Sewing machines are provided; please let us know if you will be bringing your own machine. Starter materials are included in course fee; you’ll need to purchase fabrics and other supplies to match your aesthetics.

This exciting new course provides essentials for marketing, web design, start ups, home projects, arts & appreciation! Whether you want to design a scrapbook, your own web page, take better photographs, draw or paint, create a flyer or just enjoy looking at art, this course is guaranteed to give you a sense of what design is, what makes a compelling composition in any media, and how to go about accomplishing your goals easily and effectively. We will look at design principles; initially experiment in creating abstract art based solely on design principles void of color, dimension and texture, and later, use these elements to enhance our creations; learn how to force the eye to move across the page in ways we dictate; see design in every aspect of our lives; and finally, incorporate what we have practiced into a project specific to our individual goals.

Jewelry: Beads, Wire, & Silver Clay

Go beyond basic beading and learn an array of jewelry design techniques to create gorgeous and unique necklaces, earrings, bracelets, pendants, and rings that everyone will envy! New this fall, learn to use an amazing new clay that is 99.9% silver after being fired, great for all kinds of jewelry work; combine this technique with many others: multi-strand pieces, hammered wire, ribbon stringing, and lasso necklaces with sparkling centerpieces. For totally new and experienced jewelers, join us for this fun and creative class! Tools are provided along with basic materials. You'll need to purchase beads and other materials to match your aesthetics. We will have silver clay available for your purchase, prices vary based on the cost of silver at the time of class and average $30 per pendant-sized piece.

Learn the joys of process art and the latitude for imagery and color while creating dynamic graphic works. Create pieces on any surface from fine art paper, to t-shirts, to home furnishings and more. Course fee include all material. If you wish to print on items other than fine art paper, you provide those.
